PROGRAM NOTES

Originally for oboe and piano, Graduation Eve was written for an AP music theory assignment in 2018. Nearly six years later, I came across the handwritten manuscript buried away in a cabinet among heavy stacks of wrinkled, disorganized papers. 

 

Looking back on my high school sophomore self, I hope to bring this piece back to life again. Since graduating high school, I feel that my perspectives on life and music have evolved and grown more sophisticated. As a rising senior in college, I guess the title makes more sense to me now than it did as a tenth grader.
