Ethan Resnik is a composer and pianist who evokes personal stories, memories, and meaningful experiences through music, while using his synesthetic associations to add depth and color to his sound. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree with high distinction from the Eastman School of Music and is currently pursuing his Master of Music Degree at Rice University.

 

His music has been performed and recorded by ensembles across the globe, including HYPERCUBE, Sandbox Percussion, Tacet(i) Ensemble, Four Corners Ensemble, American Modern Ensemble, Transient Canvas, Texas New Music Ensemble, Eastman Horn Choir, The Rhythm Method String Quartet, Quartetto Zuena, North/South Chamber Orchestra, Akron Symphonic Winds, and the Mettis Quartet. He has also written for artists including Jo-Ann-Sternberg, Dino Mulic, Zachary Feingold, Peter Dugan, and Thomas Kraines.

 

Ethan received 1st place in the 48th Festival of New American Music Call for Scores, Northwest Horn Symposium Composition Contest and in the Villa Musica Call for Scores. He was a finalist in the Morton Gould Young Composer Awards, awarded 3rd place in the American Prize in Composition, 2nd place in the Belvedere Festival Composition Contest, runner-up in the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” Composition Competition, and 2nd place in the 16th Piano Composition Competition Fidelio, where he later served as a jury member for the final round. Recent festival appearances include the RED NOTE New Music Festival, Penn State New Music Festival, and Maine Chamber Music Seminar.

 

As a pianist, he has attended and performed at the National Music Festival, Bowdoin Music Festival, soundSCAPE, Brevard, and the Remix Ensemble Academy in Portugal, under the baton of Peter Rundel. He was a soloist with the North Shore Symphony Orchestra and a finalist in the Yonkers Philharmonic Concerto Competition. Ethan also enjoys playing chamber music, accompanying, and premiering new works written by his peers.

 

Besides music, Ethan is an avid roller coaster enthusiast, enjoys traveling, hiking, going to beaches, and world geography. His current goals include trying to memorize the location and capital city of every country and territory in the world, all of which he hopes to visit one day.
